Privacy Policy

Beacon Calendar (“Beacon,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is designed to help you never miss important events by turning your calendar notifications into unmissable iOS alarms. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what Beacon reads on your device, what leaves your device, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

Calendar Access

  • Beacon requests access to your iOS system calendar in order to read event details (such as event title, time, location, attendees, and alerts).
  • This information stays on your device. Beacon does not send your calendar data to external servers.

Alarm Scheduling

  • We use Apple’s AlarmKit to create alarms on your device.
  • Alarm configurations (like the event they belong to, the time, and your chosen rules) are stored locally on your phone.

App Usage Data

  • Beacon collects anonymized usage analytics to help us improve the app: which features are used (such as creating a rule or scheduling an alarm), onboarding progress, permission outcomes, subscription status, and error diagnostics (error codes only, never message text).
  • Usage data is tied to a random identifier, not your name, email, or Apple Account. It never includes the contents of your calendar: event titles, times, locations, attendees, and rule text stay on your device.

Subscriptions

  • Purchases are processed by Apple. We receive your subscription status (for example, trial, active, or expired) but never your payment details.

How Beacon Uses Your Information

All of this happens on your device, inside the app:

  • Beacon scans your calendar events on your device to find the ones your rules match.
  • Beacon applies your rules (e.g., “always set an alarm for events with more than 3 attendees”).
  • Beacon creates and manages alarms through iOS.
  • Beacon stores your rules and preferences on your device so they persist between app sessions.

What Leaves Your Device

Only two things reach us, and neither one contains your calendar:

  • The anonymized usage analytics described above, which we use to understand aggregate feature usage and diagnose problems.
  • Your subscription status, which comes from Apple.

We never sell this data, and we never share it beyond the providers described above.

Your Choices

  • You can revoke Beacon’s access to your calendar at any time through iOS Settings.
  • You can delete the app to remove all stored data and alarms and stop all analytics collection.
  • You can edit or delete your rules and alarms directly in the app.

Security

Your event and alarm data stays on your device, protected by iOS itself. Beacon does not maintain external servers with your calendar data, reducing the risk of exposure. Anonymized usage analytics are stored securely by our analytics provider.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll update the “Last Updated” date at the top. If material changes are made, we’ll notify you within the app.
